A spanner or sometimes called a wrench, is the most common tool used for gripping, fastening and loosening nuts and bolts. The torque wrenches that have adjustable jaws are referred to as adjustable wrenches. Most good quality spanners and wrenches are drop forged and chrome plated. They are forged from high-quality steel such as chromium-vanadium. This is then hardened and tempered to give a hard work face to ensure the tool lasts a long work life and does not round and burr over the edges. If we apply too much torque, it can add stress to a lug nut and cause it to shear off and also with head bolts. The torque on those bolts determines the amount of clamping force and over-tightening the bolts can crush the gasket or distort the metal. Hence, the correct way to apply the required amount of foot-pounds of torque is to use an accurate torque wrench. Different types of torque wrenches:There are different types of torque wrenches available out there among those types is the torque wrench with a dial indicator built into it. The dial indicates how many foot lbs of torque are being applied. Dial types are generally more accurate and easier to read and it is the choice of the professional mechanics where accurate measurement is necessary and this dial indicator is more precise and is easier to measure. Some types of dial are available with a light or buzzer to indicate when a preset torque value is achieved. Another variation is the clicking type torque wrench. These are probably the most popular and readily available and it makes a clicking sound when the preset torque is reached. This lets the users know to stop applying force to the nut. For most uses, these types of wrenches work just fine and are rugged and easy to use. For most garage mechanics and homeowners, the clicking type torque wrench is the best choice. Repairing methods:Using a broken or damaged torque wrench will harm the product or the other equipment. The safety and reliability of the products depend on the torque which is applied to their fasteners. If we use the damaged torque wrench it will surely get a break or it may damage the net and bolt and will make our work still harder. To fix the problem, one may send the defective tool to a service center for repair or can find the cause and can repair themselves. Lubricating the torque wrench frequently by thinking of better service will cause the damaging of the product. Most of the torque wrenches come with permanent lubrication into its hinges and joints. Hence, it is better to avoid lubricating. When keeping the torque wrench at pressurizes position, the spring loses its elasticity. It can be fixed by properly providing professional services and can repair. The information found in a torque tool’s instruction manual includes calibration intervals, adjustment procedures, and preventative maintenance procedures will also help to fix the issues at home and make it work normal.
